Merry Christmas!

I love Christmas! I love being with my family, eating delicious food, opening presents and getting to see my siblings open theirs, seeing all of the beautiful decorations and lights, and listening to Christmas music.
One of my most favorite Christmas carols is O Holy Night. It is such a beautiful song that tells of how our loving savior came to earth on the first Christmas to save the world from sin and give us the opportunity to live with him forever. None of us could even begin to imagine how amazing that is, that He, who is perfect, left heaven and came to an imperfect earth, knowing that he would die so that He could save us from our sin! I hope that you all remember this as you celebrate Christmas and take some time to thank him for coming so long ago to die for you.

"O Holy Night! The stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour's birth.
Long lay the world in sin and error pining.
Till He appeared and the Spirit felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.
Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!
O night, O Holy Night , O night divine!

Led by the light of faith serenely beaming,
With glowing hearts by His cradle we stand.
O'er the world a star is sweetly gleaming,
Now come the wisemen from out of the Orient land.
The King of kings lay thus lowly manger;
In all our trials born to be our friends.
He knows our need, our weakness is no stranger,
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!
Behold your King! Before him lowly bend!

Truly He taught us to love one another,
His law is love and His gospel is peace.
Chains he shall break, for the slave is our brother.
And in his name all oppression shall cease.
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful chorus raise we,
With all our hearts we praise His holy name.
Christ is the Lord! Then ever, ever praise we,
His power and glory ever more proclaim!
His power and glory ever more proclaim!"

The Dream Garden

This amazing mosaic was done by Louis C. Tiffany and maxfield Parrish for hte Curtis Publishing building in Philidelphia- Home of the Ladies' Home Journal and the Saturday Evening Post.

Measuring 15 by 49 feet, Dream Garden was produced by the Tiffany Studios in 1916, using over 1000,000 pieces of favrile glass, each hand-fired to achieve perfection in each of the 260 colors.

"It was a huge picture to be done in glass mosaic. The space to be filled called for over a million pieces of glass, and for a year the services of thirty of the most skilled artisans would be required. The work had to be done from a series of bromide photographs enlarged to a size
hitherto unattempted. But at last the decoration was completed; the finished art piece was placed on exhibition in New York and over seven thousand persons came to see it. The leading art critics pronounced the result to be the most amazing instance of the tone capacity of
glass-work ever achieved. It was a veritable wonder-piece, far exceeding the utmost expression of paint and canvas.

For six months a group of skilled artisans worked to take the picture apart in New York, transport it and set it into its place in Philadelphia. But at last it was in place: the wonder-picture in glass of which painters have declared that 'mere words are only aggravating in describing this amazing picture.' Since that day over one hundred thousand visitors to the building have sat in admiration before it.

The Grove of Academe was to become a Dream Garden, but it was only after six years of incessant effort, with obstacles and interventions almost insurmountable, that the dream became true."

God's chorus

This is amazing!

An engineer mathematically slowed down the sound of crickets chirping at night. He slowed the sound to emulate what the sound would be like if it were extended through the lifetime of a human.

Camp Thurman

School is almost over and summer is on it's way. I'm am so excited! This summer I have my first ever official job. I'm working at Camp Thurman, a Christian day camp for kids 5 through 6th grade.
I think my favorite part about summer is the watermelon, swimming pools, sun tans, and getting a break from school. (And yes, the heat.)

Right or Left Brained?

You Are 50% Left Brained, 50% Right Brained
The left side of your brain controls verbal ability, attention to detail, and reasoning.
Left brained people are good at communication and persuading others.
If you're left brained, you are likely good at math and logic.
Your left brain prefers dogs, reading, and quiet.

The right side of your brain is all about creativity and flexibility.
Daring and intuitive, right brained people see the world in their unique way.
If you're right brained, you likely have a talent for creative writing and art.
Your right brain prefers day dreaming, philosophy, and sports.

The Choice

Here is a poem that I wrote, it's not very long. It's a free verse poem.

The Choice
by Faith Bush

She sat in a waiting room,
Confusing thoughts crowded her mind.
They told her it was unimportant and meaningless.
She did not want it, and yet, she did.
They urged her to let go, but something told her to hold on.
What should she do?
Would she always feel guilty if she let go?
She tried to hold back the tears.
The doctor called.
She had to decide.
What would she do?
It's life was in her hands.
Then, a movement.
She knew there was life.
Love overcame her.
She knew what to do.
She knew that this thing inside had meaning.
She was the only one who could save it.
It was hers.
It was real.
It was alive.

Tax Day Tea party

On April 15th, hundreds of thousands of citizens gathered in more than 800 cities to voice their opposition to out of control spending at all levels of government. Organized in all 50 states by Americans from all walks of life, these "tea parties" were a true grassroots protest of irresponsible fiscal policies and intrusive government.

Last Wednesday my family went to one of these tea parties. Is was amazing how many people showed up!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everybody!!!!

1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. 2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, 3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. 4While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. 5In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead? 6He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: 7'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' " 8Then they remembered his words.

Rock and Worship roadshow

Roadshow

Last Friday some friends and I went to the Rock and Worship Roadshow in Dallas at the American Airlines center. It was awesome! The center was packed with people. It was pretty cool. The tickets where only $10 dollars and you had to buy them at the door.
All of the bands that played where great. I think my favorite was Jeremy Camp. Mercyme and the rest where good too. After the concert we stood in line to get CD's for an hour! It was insane! All of Mercyme's CD's where $5 each. I got Addison Road, Tenth Avenue North, and Jeremy Camp CDs.

Colorado

My family is leaving to go skiing in Colorado tomorrow! Yeah! I love skiing. The first time I ever went skiing I ran into a tree, but thankfully I've gotten a lot better since then.:) Last year was a lot of fun. I hope that when we get back it will be really warm in Texas. Right now it's in the 30's and raining. (It has been raining for days now.) Texas weather is insane. Just last week it was almost 90 degrees! Right now it feels more like January or December than the middle of March.

Camping

Hello world!
This last weekend my family and I went camping with some friends in east Texas. It was a blast except for the fact that it was in the 20s & 30s all weekend and EXTREMELY windy! When I was packing on Thursday, it was 85 degrees outside so I didn't think to bring a jacket. Oops. Thankfully I did bring a few hoodies and my Dad let me wear his coat when he wasn't using it. the first night it was so windy that our tent was on top of us most of the night(We were on the edge of a big field). the next day we moved it to a little clearing in the woods and it was perfectly still all night even though we could hear the wind howling.

By Your Side - Tenth Avenue North

Why are you striving these days
Why are you trying to earn grace
Why are you crying
Let me lift up your face
Just don't turn away

Why are you looking for love
Why are you still searching as if I'm not enough
To where will you go child
Tell me where will you run
To where will you run

And I'll be by your side
Wherever you fall
In the dead of night
Whenever you call
And please don't fight
These hands that are holding you
My hands are holding you

Look at these hands and my side
They swallowed the grave on that night
When I drank the world's sin
So I could carry you inAnd give you life
I want to give you life

Cause I, I love you
I want you to know
That I, I love you
I'll never let you go
